AI image generation, porn, and the imagination

I’ve written before about AI image generation, but lately Mage.space, my preferred go-to AI image generator, has made a bunch of changes to their platform, most of which are instructive and speak almost perfectly to my desires and preferences, and one of which seems to be really inflaming their user base, but doesn’t upset me too much. That latter change is that they have, for the most part, made the creation of not-safe-for-work content a violation of their terms of service: they had a problem with child sex abuse material (people were generating lots of it, apparently). As with Tumblr and Craigslist and so many other sites over the years, rather than take steps to solve the problem that they faced, they simply eliminated the entire category of which the problem was just a tiny portion. So I imagine. Or maybe, given all these other platforms’ actions, I’m wrong, and child sex abuse material simply dominates the creation of not-safe-for-work material. Who knows?

In any event, I’ve never used Mage to create anything more explicit than the occasional topless image, and mostly I don’t even want that. Mostly what I want are images of women clothed in settings, with their clothes somewhat revealing, showing cleavage, showing thigh, maybe a little sheer. Here are a number of the images that I’ve generated in recent days that have been hot to me (not spectacularly so – just average-ly so), and here’s what I think is hot about them:

An AI-generated image of a blonde woman standing in an office wearing a short blue skirt and a beige jacket.

I imagine this woman as incredibly confident, incredibly smart – smarter than all the finance and tech bros up with whom she has to put, day after day. And, I imagine her wearing this skirt almost as an act of aggression – as in, “Go ahead, douchebags – try and catch a glimpse of my ass, or my panties – if I’m wearing them.

AND.

I imagine her sharing those particular views with me, uniquely, intentionally.

These two? Well…. Suffice it to say, we are about to have an evening of glorious fun.

The second change Mage made is that they created the opportunity to make what they call dynamic prompts. This is something I had been doing manually for months. They create variables, allow you to list up to ten possible values for each variable, and on the plan on which I am, you may have up to three of these variables in any given prompt. So, for example, you might say, “Create an image of an [ethnicity] woman wearing [clothes] in a [place], and then you might have ten different ethnicities, ten different clothing options, and ten different venues. Even when you use one, static prompt over and over, you get a different image each time, but if you have three variables with ten different prompts, the permutations are, if not endless, at least substantial. My math isn’t as good as it used to be, but I think that the number of permutations is on the order of ten to the second times ten to the first times ten to the zero, or maybe ten to the third times ten to the second times ten to the first. Honestly, I don’t recall, and it doesn’t matter. For all intents and purposes, I can just keep hitting generate and get an endless stream of images that delight me.

Mage has further enhanced their interface so you can create what they call an “app” for a given dynamic prompt, which allows you simply to press play, and each time you press play, it generates a new image. They’ve reduced the amount of time it takes to generate an image, and they seem to have improved the image-generating models that they’re using, all of which adds up to mountains and mountains of fun for me.

Now, what is it about these images? What is it about generating all these different scenarios that turns me on? Because the truth is, it’s not the faces or body parts of the fake women who are depicted. The fact of their fakeness barely makes a dent in my arousal. Each image – in fact, just the writing of each prompt – unleashes a fantasy in my mind – where the action is.

An AI-generated image in response to this prompt: Full body (Beautiful woman in her 40s) hot, sexy, slutty. (At a swanky bar) (happy seductive expression), people in background, [ethnicity] (wearing sexy [clothes] and [accessories]. Candid, dynamic angle, motion, cleavage, downblouse. She's got a wholesome look, but is a bit of a slut.

So, when I look at this image, for instance, I don’t think hot brunette, big breasts. The prompt that generated it was: “Full body (Beautiful woman in her 40s) hot, sexy, slutty. (At a swanky bar) (happy seductive expression), people in background, [ethnicity] (wearing sexy [clothes] and [accessories]. Candid, dynamic angle, motion, cleavage, downblouse. She’s got a wholesome look, but is a bit of a slut.”

Instead, I imagine a woman who looks something like this (or maybe even, nothing like this) in a bar, doing as I ask, giving me favored glances at parts of her body that no one else in the bar can see. I imagine us texting one another. I imagine her following my instructions as to crossing her legs or uncrossing them. I imagine a relationship between us, even. All of this sometimes departs from the depicted fake woman and starts to merge with actual women. So, I’ll use a picture as a springboard off which to jump in imagining a date with Serena or Charlotte or Hope or Milica. Or even some sort of historical revisionism involving Sofia or Isabel or Veronique.

In other words, the way I use this is not to please my vision, but to jumpstart my fantasies. Not to mention to explore them. The act of refining prompts, designing new prompts, creating variables, populating the variables, all of this is delicious. Exciting. Before I even generate the first image, my cock is hard.
