For five or more years, I have had one or more pieces of obligatory writing hanging over my head at nearly every moment. Today, for the first time in recent memory, I do not.
A few more moments of obligation loom: two of the pieces I’ve written are with a (kind, gentle) editor. And when four pieces have been well and truly reviewed and discussed, there remains one, large, obligatory piece. But. I can’t start that ’til those discussions are over.
So for the time being? There’s NOTHING I have to write. And I feel GOOD.
