Voice (2)

Years ago, readers often asked that I post audio clips so they could hear my voice. At the time, I was happy to share my voice privately, and I still am, perhaps too happy.

was, however, wisely reluctant to post my voice online.

At the time, I thought the danger was that I would be identifiable by my voice. That in the future, there would come a time when you could Google someone’s voice, just like you can Google their name. I don’t think I was necessarily wrong, but I think I failed to anticipate the nearer danger, one that has materialized already: if someone were to have access to my voice at this point, they could clone it and do all sorts of nefarious deeds with it.
