AI and the ladies: Serena

I asked Midjourney to describe the photo Serena sent to share with the others for our upcoming Sapphic Soiree. Midjourney was not just wrong, it was downright cruel:

1️⃣ Selfie of an unattractive [?????] woman with dark hair and brown eyes, wearing a black strapless dress, on the street in New York City. She is smiling at the camera. Behind her, there is another person taking pictures of them. She is wearing red lipstick and resembles Natalia Dyer, an actress from the video game Arcane. –ar 9:16 [ed. note: Serena doesn’t look unlike Natalia Dyer. Natalia Dyer is hot. Serena is hotter. Unattractive?!?!?!?!?]

2️⃣ A selfie of a woman in New York. She is wearing a black top and red lipstick, and her hair is a dark brown color. There is another person taking a picture behind the lady, and the city street can be seen in the background. Her eyes have double eyelids, and her skin looks smooth with no blemishes or wrinkles. Her lips appear plump and full. –ar 9:16

3️⃣ A selfie of a woman wearing a black dress and red lipstick, smiling at the camera. She is standing on a street in New York City, with another person taking pictures behind her. –ar 9:16

4️⃣ A photo of the gorgeous and beautiful Marryam Derr [I could find no such person – I think Midjourney invented her], a Brazilian woman with dark hair in an updo, wearing red lipstick, a black off-the-shoulder top, taking a selfie while walking on a New York street with friends behind her. She has light brown eyes. Her face is serene [heh heh – see what it did there, without even knowing?], and she looks happy, with natural lighting, posted to Snapchat stories from her phone camera. –ar 9:16

Honestly: there’s no person who ever met Serena who thought “unattractive.” It simply isn’t a word that’s ever been used to describe her.

Here were the images up with which it came:

Honestly, not one looks remotely like her.
