“lesbian” porn

First, let me say this: very little of what’s marketed as lesbian porn is lesbian in any way, unless “lesbian” means “women having sex with other women” – which isn’t, I think, what it means.

The porn isn’t produced for lesbians, and it doesn’t feature lesbians. I mean, I’m sure there are exceptions, but it’s notable that the vast majority of performers in “lesbian porn” can be found sucking and fucking cocks elsewhere on the web, often on the same site. Not to say that lesbians can’t suck or fuck cock – of course they can – but my sense is that very few of these performers identify as lesbian. And, while many lesbians may well enjoy watching “lesbian porn,” it’s clearly intended to appeal to us straight guys – and our straight female counterparts – at least as much as to women who primarily eat from the bushy plate. Note the prevalence of the conceit, for example, that one or the other (or both) has never before been with a woman, that cock is what she’s used to, and that trying feminism just this once is simultaneously just a little naughty and no threat to men.

Maybe there’s some of this in gay male porn, too, I don’t know, but in that instance, it would seem to serve a different purpose, I imagine, allowing straight-identified male viewers the same non-threatening thrill while at the same time giving gay male viewers a little triumph.

Anyway, none of that is my point.

My point is more personal.

I’ve never before been particularly drawn to “lesbian porn,” preferring to see either solo women or straight couples. But lately, I’ve been, in the words of Ali G., trying a little feminism.

I’m not sure what it is about this genre that is speaking to me lately. Maybe it’s the general youth of the performers (though there’s a weird sub-genre of MILF lesbian step/daughter porn that I don’t quite understand). Maybe it’s the absence of cock, at a time when my own cock hasn’t been seeing all that much action. Or maybe – most likely – it’s the fact that the majority of the lesbian porn I’ve found begins with the performers dressed, casually, but sexy, in shorts, or bathing suits, or jeans.

Close readers know that women clothed but sexually available to me are my catnip/kryptonite. There’s just nothing I find hotter than a clothed woman in a sexual context.
