Social distancing?

I generally don’t give advice. But today, I have some to offer:

Don’t unthinkingly use the phrase “social distancing” to describe the vital physical distancing that we’re all (I hope) doing.

Social distancing is a catastrophe; physical distancing is a necessity.

Collectively, we have made, and continue to make, dozens of disastrous mistakes. If there ever was a time not to distance socially, this is it.

I’ve been having daily Zoom meetings with my various families and friends and colleagues. I’ve been using the phone more than ever. And I’ve been going for lots of physically distant walks with close friends whom I’m drawing closer.

My plea to you: don’t allow yourself to distance yourself socially.

Social distancing is as toxic as any virus.
