Skirts: a hypothesis

There’s an inch or two, between a woman’s thigh and her knee, in which she reveals (in which I imagine she reveals) her state of mind when dressing.

Did she think of herself as a sexual being? A seductress? Did she imagine herself as an object for viewing, a creature of beauty? Or did she think herself naked, requiring covering?

Not necessarily from shame, or modesty, but perhaps simply propriety.

If the former, if she was imagining herself as a sexual subject, or object, or even simply a sexual being, the bottom of her skirt lands at or above that inch or two.

If the latter, if sex was far from her thoughts, or even her self-conception, it lands at or below that fluid line.

Postscript: There are, of course exceptions.
